We pride ourselves on our great homemade food, but the atmosphere we try and create enhanced by the ever expanding collection of assorted music memorabilia is just as important.

All Soul & Motown is musically timeless, whether you grew up listening to it, grew up listening to your parents listening to it or have just discovered it recently with a little help from "Alexa" it is what keeps every dancefloor in the country busy and is what helps make us who we are!

We hate the words "music themed", the integrity of the music is important to us, no-one is coming to take your order dressed as "James Brown" You can't order an "Otis Redding Burger" and we guarantee your dinner will

not be served on a "platinum disc!"

The music compliments the food,  there is a definite nod to the Southern states of The U.S, BBQ ribs, Buffalo wings, Cajun tuna, Creole chicken

but all cooked fresh on the premises from our own in house recipes.

Moving forward we want to enhance the musical aspect of The Soulville,

we have plans for live soul singers, Sunday soul sessions with live DJ's

and who knows maybe even a little Motownokee!

The Soulville is situated at the bottom of Chesterfield's famous "Yards" a shambles of alleyways and buildings that originally formed the border of the notorious Victorian slums known locally as "The Dog Kennels" but now houses an eclectic mixture of boutiques, shops, cafes, restaurants, salons and relevant sculptures and art pieces.

We don't know what it was originally constructed for, but the giant arched wooden doors that lead out from the centre of the restaurant into The Yards tells us that this part at least was probably a stables. We believe it may have been the home of the animals that pulled the early horse drawn fire engine ... but I guess we will never know.

When The Soulville Steakhouse Company took over the building in 2010 it was derelict but had previously been the infamous "Green Room" if we can make as much of an impression on the people of Chesterfield we will know we are doing something right!

After ten years of opening for 7 days a week we have recently taken the opportunity to close for a few days and redecorate throughout. We have also welcomed a brand new General Manager who looks forward to taking The Soulville to the next level but don't worry! our loyal, long serving Head Chef is still with us and producing food of

the highest quality.
